KCNE2 Gene
KCNE2 belongs to a family of small auxiliary subunits of voltage-gated cation channels which can assemble with multiple alpha subunits of voltage-gated cation channels and modulate their gating, conductance, and pharmacology. The KCNE2 gene plays an important role in maintaining cardiac electrical stability. KCNE2 R27C is a gain-of-function mutation associated with the initiation and/or maintenance of Atrial Fibrillation.
