MYH7 Gene

The MYH7 gene provides instructions for making a protein known as the beta (β)-myosin heavy chain. This protein is found in cardiac muscle and in type I skeletal muscle fibers. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myosin storage myopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and Laing early-onset distal myopathy.
