RYR2 Gene
The RYR2 gene provides instructions for making a protein called ryanodine receptor is part of a family of ryanodine receptors, which form channels that transport calcium ions within cells. Channels made with the ryanodine receptor 2 protein are found in cardiac muscle cells called myocytes. Familial polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is an autosomal-dominant, inherited disease. Patients with familial polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have missense mutations in the ryanodine receptor type 2 [RyR2]).
